I have been immersed in the field of special education since the age of 5. Growing up, my mother was the Director of a special education collaborative, at which I volunteered often. I quickly fell in love with the population of students and eventually began working for the company as a paraprofessional and later a speech therapist. During my 8 years as an SLPA, I was lucky enough to work closely with some amazing occupational & physical therapists, as well as Behavior Analysts. The field of ABA became something that I was incredibly passionate about. Fast forward to today and I cannot imagine doing anything else! When I am not working as a BCBA, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends! My husband and I have two children, ages 5 and 8 years, as well as two fur babies - an Italian Greyhound and a Whippet. On the weekends we can often be found out on our boat, walking the shore searching for shark teeth, or fishing.
I absolutely love interacting with my clients remotely. I engage with clinicians, clients, and their families throughout supervision sessions. I love to brainstorm and collaborate with others. I believe our clients should not be following a rigid curriculum, but should instead be focusing on skills that are most important to their individual lives.
I cannot pinpoint a "favorite" experience, as all of "my kids" accomplishments on a daily basis are what make me truly love working in this field!
I love what I do because everyday is new, challenging, and rewarding. I love making a positive impact on others by helping to improve an individual's skills and reduce problematic behaviors in order to reach their full potential. The field of ABA is everchanging, which allows for opportunities for personal growth and lifelong learning. I love being able to collaborate with others - families, therapists, and other professionals.
While I am a “go with the flow” person, I thrive on routine. You can always expect me to be prompt to meetings, an active listener, and engage with my clients and technicians. I love participating in sessions and interacting with my “kiddos” and their families. I feel I am an approachable person and communicate well with others. Cliche as it may be, team work makes the dream work, and I am always willing to lend a hand and actively support my colleagues and families to achieve our shared objectives.
