About Me

Hello, my name is Jaspreet Jagpal and I have been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) for 8+ years. I started in the field in 2012 working with families in my local community. I have experience working with young children, adolescents and adults. I have a 2 years old son I enjoy spending time with during the day and on weekends.

How I Practice

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is a systematic approach to understanding and changing behavior. It is often used to help individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. ABA therapy involves breaking down complex skills into smaller, more manageable components and teaching them through a series of steps. How I Practice: For young toddlers my approach to therapy is child led in which the toddler leads the sessions through play based therapy. For older children and adolescents I create a more structured discrete trial training session where they are seated and/ or follow a structured schedule. For adults we would use their day to day schedule and create a plan that follows their regular routine which may include attending classes or work.

My Favorite Experience Working In This Field

My favorite experience is working with young toddlers because it can be really fun shaping their behaviors and paving a path for growth. Toddlers tend to pick up on skills quickly and their behaviors are shaped very well. In my personal experience working with toddlers is I have seen a large improvement in their receptive and expressive language skills which is always exciting to see.

Why I Love What I Do

I love working as a BCBA because it allows me to work with families and provide a service that has evidence based research in which families have seen tremendous improvement in children and adolescents with ASD. I love seeing improvement in children and adolescents through the use of ABA therapy.
