I am a veteran educator with over 30 years of experience working with students with special needs ranging from Pre-K to 21 years old. I love what I do. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, I have served a wide range of clients with varying needs and abilities. Behavior is my passion, and making a difference in the lives of ours is my purpose.
I would best describe my practice as relevant, reflective and responsive. When supporting families, I ensure that the tasks, goals and outcomes align with those identified by the family as relevant for social, behavioral and collective engagement. My practice is always reflective in nature.
By far, my absolute favorite experience encountered while working in this field occurred during Functional Communication Training (FCT). I love when clients make the connection that their voices matter and their words have meaning and can come by way of manding, tacting or intraverbals. This revelation opens the door to a whole new world of communication and way of life!
I truly enjoy working with children and families by aiding in the development of social, communication and behavioral skill sets that lead to increased independence.
You can expect a thoughtful, skilled, and compassionate professional who not only applies behavior analysis effectively but also understands the broader educational and emotional context their child exists in. I posses a deep understanding of how special education services are structured and delivered in public, private, and charter schools. Due to my extensive years of educational experience, I am able to guide teachers in modifying classroom environments to reduce problem behavior and improve engagement.
